Poker Games

Poker is one of the most popular, challenging, and celebrated games there is - be it online or offline. Even celebrities are at it. For the skillful enough, playing pro can also be a very rewarding career.
There are different kinds of poker games; different variations on how it is played. Whatever you choose, know the basics - the rules of the game - very well. The basics are your foundation. Depending on how strong your foundation is, this will largely affect how you play. This is also where you start building your own strategy and game plan. At first, it might be all too tricky or complicated, but with patience, you'll soon find out that mastering the basics will come a long way.
Here goes.
In the game of poker, the deck of cards comes in order - starting from the number cards to the face cards. The number cards starts from the weakest (2) to the strongest (10), followed by the face cards starting from jack (weakest), queen, king, and ace (strongest).
Familiarize yourself with the different kinds of poker hands you can use in the game. These are the pair, two pair, three of a kind, four of a kind straight, flush, straight flush, royal flush, full house.
These poker hands also come in order, from the weakest to the strongest: pair, two pair, 3 of a kind, straight, flush, full house, 4 of a kind, straight flush, and royal flush.
Pair means you got 2 same cards regardless of color. Two Pair literally means you got 2 pairs of same cards. Three of a kind means you got 3 same cards. Straight means you got 5 consecutive cards (base on the order of the deck of cards). Flush means you got 5 random cards of same suit; they follow no particular number order. Full house is the combination of 2 of a kind and 3 of a kind. Four of a kind means 4 same cards. Straight flush you got both straight and flush. Royal flush means a straight flush - 5 consecutive cards, starting from the strongest, ace, to 10.
You will need to learn to deal your cards. Different games of poker have its own rules on how many cards are allowed but they all work the same. 5 card poker needs 5 cards, and 7 card stud needs 7 cards. You start your deal from the top of the deck and to the person on your left. Each player will take turns; the game should be player clockwise, until each of you have all cards.
Learn the basic poker terms. You will definitely encounter these as you progress in the game. "Bet" means that you're risking money while (assuming) you got the best poker hand among all. "Raise" means you're betting more than the others. "Check" means you'll skip your chance to bet at your turn. "Fold" means you're quitting and giving up your cards.
The game of poker has its own set of terminology or jargon. In the world of poker, these are slang made by the players themselves, and has evolved and grew in numbers over time. It's not uncommon for poker players to call names for their particular play. Knowing the most common ones will come in handy.
